Coccidiosis
is caused by a protozoan parasite. It can affect dogs of all ages but the
problem is much more severe in puppies. The treatment of coccidiosis infection involves
the use of trimethoprim-sulfadiazine combinations or sulfadimethoxine. These
drugs are bacteriostatic, that is they only inhibit the organism’s ability to
reproduce. They do not kill the organisms thus elimination of the coccidia from
the intestine is quite slow. However, this is also advantageous because it
provides time for the puppy to develop its own immunity and get rid of the
organisms. Strict sanitation should be practiced in order to prevent spread of
the disease. Fecal materials should always be removed to avoid contamination of
food and water. The best methods to kill coccidian include incineration of the
feces, immersion in boiling water, steam cleaning, or application of 10%
ammonia solution. Most disinfectants are not effective against coccidian. Be
sure to talk to your vets Aurora CO about
any questions and/or concerns you may have about your pet’s treatment.

Is Your Cat Sleeping A Lot?
Your cat is a
big part of your household and she seems to use her time in a lot of different
ways. However, she can often be found sleeping around your home. Why does she
nap so much?
Your cat’ body
is different than yours. She requires a bit more rest, and typically tries to
catch up on this whenever she can. This means that she will take advantage of
quiet moments throughout the day to get some sleep so she can be ready for the
next play session that pops up. It also means that she will likely want to rest
after eating a meal so she can allow her body to focus on digestion as nutrient
extraction can take up a lot of energy when you eat a high-protein diet like
she does. For more information, please contact your local vet clinic Castle
Hills TX.

Why Are Vertical Spaces Important In Multi-Cat Households?
In multi-cat households, there should be enough resources for all cats to enjoy. And one of these is having a variety of vertical spaces simply because cats love them. Cats that live under the same roof soon develop systems for timesharing food, water, toys, vertical spots, spaces, etc. What’s good about having several vertical spots is that there will be a consequent reduction of territorial and competitive behavior, thus there will be less fights and other forms of aggression. Vertical spaces include cat walks, cat trees, cat shelves, window perches, etc. Investing in a multi-tiered cat tree can also provide more vertical spaces that can accommodate several cats. Just be sure that the base of the cat tree is stable so it won’t topple over easily .
Why A Puppy Won’t Make An Ideal Gift
Kids often beg their parents for a new puppy as a gift but many experts think that giving in to your kid’s wishes is not a good idea. Here are important reasons why you should consider your decision very carefully:
l Many kids are not ready to care for a pet. Your child should realize that responsibility and commitment that are required when you caring for a pet. It is a good idea to explain to your child what is expected of him as the dog’s owner and whether he is ready to commit. In many cases, children are unaware of the responsibility and more often than not the parents usually end up caring for the puppy when the novelty of a new pet wears off and their kid becomes interested in other things.
l If it’s somebody else’s child who is asking for a puppy, it is recommended to talk to the child’s parents and seek their permission.

Why your cat loves to hide
Your cat is a
big part of your life and you want to be able to understand her as best you
can. This means taking the time to make sure you take note of her habits and
make an effort to grasp the meaning behind them. For example, you’ve noticed
that she hides a lot. Why is this?
Your cat may
hide because something is scaring her, or there is something she is unsure of
in your living space. This is likely the case if she bolts to a hiding spot
when a loud noise occurs or someone new enters into your home. She may also be
hiding to get some time alone. If she gets a lot of attention when out in the
open this may be her way to get some rest without interruption. For more
information, please contact your local animal hospital Bolingbrook IL.

Chew toys and your puppy
Your puppy is a
wonderful part of your life and you want him to have everything he needs. He
seems to enjoy the chew toys you’ve brought into your home. Why is this?
Your dog loves
to chew because it gives him a way to explore his surroundings in a new way.
Chewing on something allows him to see what something tastes like, what texture
it is, and how durable the item is. This can help him understand the difference
between the different chew toys as well. It can also be a fun way to pass the
time. There is also a chance your puppy is teething and chewing on a chew toy
can really help her relieve some pain and pressure in her mouth if this is the
case. For additional information,
please contact your local Michigan City, IN veterinarian.
