It may be hard to determine if your dog needs a blanket or not during
the winter months. However, dogs living outdoors may need a blanket to
keep warm. This is only for dogs living in areas that are slightly cool
or colder at night. If the temperature is too cold for you to be outside
then it’s too cold for your dog and you should bring him indoors for
the night. A blanket will not keep him warm in this kind of situation.
Dogs that stay outside during the day should have access to a sheltered
area and should possibly wear a blanket that you know he will not chew
on while you’re away. If you’re unsure if a blanket is needed then
perhaps your dog should just stay inside for the day. Remember coats or
blankets provide temporary warmth and aren’t meant to serve as a
shelter. Talk to your veterinarian Covington, GA to learn more.
