Hamsters aren’t
all that interested in humans. If your hammy seems happy enough in his cage,
and you are content watching him play without opening the cage door, do you
have to let him out?
Although you
don’t have to let out your hamster, it’s a much better idea to let him out at
least every once in a while. The biggest reason to let your hamster out is to
clean the cage! It’s much easier to clean if he can be removed while you get to
work.
Hamsters can get
much better exercise if allowed to play outside the cage. They love running in
exercise balls, but even a hamster proofed area in your home can help him burn
calories.
