How often do you clean the litter box? If you don’t scoop enough, or if you don’t change the litter enough, your cat may decide he wants to go elsewhere. Try scooping every day and switching out the litter once every week or two.

If he still isn’t using the box like he should, consider its placement. If it’s out in the open, or if it isn’t convenient to use, he may decide to go elsewhere.
