Play Biting In Cats

Has your feline friend ever scratched you? This is often a playful behavior in kitties. Our feline friends love to pounce on things and then bite and scratch their ‘prey.’ This is actually a very deeply ingrained instinctive behavior in cats: after all, this is how they catch their meals in the wild. However, it’s really not something you want to encourage in a pet. Those little claws are sharp!

Whenever your furry friend bites or scratches you, immediately stop playing with her. Then, walk away and ignore her for a while. Cats absolutely hate being ignored! You also can say ‘Ow’ or tell her to put her claws away. You might have to repeat it a few (dozen) times, but your cat will catch on eventually. Never hit or yell at your pet: this will only make her fearful of you.
