Contact Allergy In Dogs

Dogs experience different types of allergies. Some dogs were lucky to have none, while some unluckily have one or more. The least common allergy among dogs is contact allergy. This allergy is triggered when your dog gets in contact with an allergen that causes it. The most common allergens of this allergy are pyrethrins, wool, synthetics, and other materials, often at home. This allergy can develop at any age.

When your dog gets in contact with the allergen, the touched area becomes irritated and itchy. The first that you need to do is to eliminate the allergen so that the reaction will subside.

Consult your vet if you are unsure whether your dog is experiencing an allergic reaction. There are cases when owners diagnose their pets without verifying with their vets. This is not a good and safe habit; it might worsen your pet's health condition. The skin irritation may not be a result of an allergic reaction. It might be a symptom of an underlying disease.

Frequent allergy flare-ups must be brought to the attention of your veterinarian Bellaire, TX.
