You'll
go through many changes as you grow older. One thing many people experience as
they age is a decline in vision. Many of these problems make driving more
challenging and stressful.
Here are some tips on safe driving for those having trouble seeing at night:
●
Plan your trips carefully. Try to stick to
roads you know, and stay off dark highways.
●
Try to avoid high-risk spots like ramps, and
try to only turn left where there are traffic lights.
●
Allow extra driving time in bad conditions.
●
Don't drive if you are very tired, or when it
is raining.
●
Leave at least two car lengths between you and
the next driver, especially in bad weather or on highways.
●
Visit your eye doctor regularly for full
exams. Keep your glasses and/or contact prescriptions up to date.
●
Keep your headlights and windshield clean, and
make sure your wipers are in good condition.
●
Consider upgrading to a car with more safety
features. Some will beep when you get close to another car. Others offer blind-spot alerts.
●
Consider transitional and/or polarized lenses
