Some Rabbit-Proofing Tips For Your Home

Rabbits like chewing and digging.  To safeguard your home and your pet, you will have to rabbit-proof your living spaces.

Flex tubing and wire covers

Wires are among your pet rabbit’s primary chewing targets.  Rabbits have sharp teeth that could cut through wires and damage your most treasured lamp, perhaps even electrocuting your pet.  It will be best to use flex tubing or tough plastic sleeves as covers for wires.  You can purchase these from local electronics shops, hardware stores, or home improvement shops.  A much better idea would be to keep wires beyond your rabbit’s reach.

You could also make use of flex tubing as shielding for chair legs or table legs made of wood.

Protecting baseboards

Moldings and baseboards are often also chewed out by rabbits.  These could be protected by using furring strips, plastic guards, or 2x4s that can be purchased from nearby hardware shops.  You can even use velcro strips attached to wood panels to protect elaborate moldings found in Victorian-style houses.

Any sign of illness exhibited by your pet should require a visit to your veterinary hospital Crowley, TX for proper medical attention.
