Why Yarn Is Not Safe For Cats

Since cats are generally playful creatures, they tend to play with anything that they can get their grasp on. Most of the time, if you let your cat roam around your house, there may be some pieces of household items that they will reach and play with.

Some experts say that due to a cat’s innate instinct to hunt, they think of everyday items such as yarn as their prey. However, as a pet owner, you must be aware of the downsides of letting your cat play with yarn.

You may be wondering why a soft item such as yarn is dangerous to your cat. Yarns put your cat at risk of compression and getting mixed up with the string. If this happens, your cat may experience difficulty in breathing, as well as loss of blood supply in the body.

Your veterinarian Cy-Fair can enlighten you about important health issues that can affect your pet.

What Kinds Of Food Should My Cat Eat To Lose Weight?

Vets recommend some nutrients that should be added to the pet’s diet to help them lose weight. These nutrients are fiber, protein, a moderate amount of carbohydrates, and low-fat content. The guidelines that your pet will follow to lose weight are similar to the diet plan of humans who need to shed some extra pounds.

You need to provide proteins to your cat to give her the energy to run around. This nutrient also keeps your pet feeling full, so she doesn’t eat often. Your cat must follow a reduction for portioning.

Consuming high fiber and high moisture food will also help the cat to feel full for a long time. You can find these kinds of food in a wet-type food diet.

Most cats will also need fats and carbohydrates in every meal. But when you are helping your cat to lose weight, you should serve fewer carbohydrates and fat. Since cats are not very active, they do not burn fat quickly. You can also ask the vet for the kind of food that helps in losing excess weight.

Your pet’s diet is one of the important concerns that you should discuss with your veterinarian Cy-Fair during your pet’s wellness checks.

Leash-Training Your Pet Rabbit

If you are planning to train your rabbit to use the leash, here are some necessary information that you need to know:

Older rabbits have a long attention span. Hence, compared to the younger ones, older rabbits are easier to train. However, as older rabbits experience health-related conditions, they can be a little unresponsive to training.

Rabbits are crepuscular, meaning they are active during dawn and dusk. So, it is best to train them during the twilight period as they are more able to absorb new information during this time.

Practice positive reinforcement by giving your pet some treats during the training. Rabbits also love when their owners stroke their ears so, make sure you do this as well to compliment your pet.

Take note also that you need to adjust the size of the leash as the rabbit grows.

In case you have concerns about your pet’s behavior during the leash training, consult your veterinarian Cy-Fair.
