Aristocratic Doberman Pinschers

Deutscher Wachtelhund is not the only dog breed that comes from Germany. If you are interested to bring home a pet from this side of the world, you may also shortlist the Doberman Pinschers. Yes, that is right. This breed came from Germany in the late 19th century. These dogs were originally bred to be guard dogs. They possess the best qualities of their dog parents that are known to include a Black and Tan Terrier, a German Pinscher, and a Rottweiler.

Dobies represent a young breed compared to their cousins since they only started to appear in the late 19th century. But they sure have made a name for themselves already. These pups are known to be affectionate, loyal, alert, and intelligent. Their looks are also extraordinary and loved by many.

Dobies have an athletic build and sleek coats that complete their majestic appearance. Combining all their good traits, these dogs can perform in various endeavors, including canine sports and military and police work. Yes, that is right. Dobies can be more than your family’s best companion and guardian.

Tips On How to Handle Your Guinea Pig

Guinea pigs frequently exhibit uneasiness near their owners. You should make an effort to help your guinea pig feel safe and secure in your presence. Please slowly get to know your guinea pig and ensure it feels secure in your care. Once he becomes comfortable with you, there will be more opportunities to bond. Here are some tips for handling your pet:

Keep your guinea pig in his cage when he first arrives home. Let him adjust to his new environment by observing from his cage. Handling him immediately might scare or annoy him. There are other ways to bond with him without physical contact.

Talk to your pet. This way, he will be familiarized with your sound. In addition to that, you should also go near him so that he can pick up your scent. Feed him regularly so that he can associate you with food, one of the most beautiful things for pets. However, do not pressure him to interact with you.

Keep in mind that guinea pigs require a sense of security. When you bring him outside the enclosure, let him roam free and attempt to sit on the ground so that he may come closer to you. He'll feel more relaxed if you're on the same footing level.

If you have any concerns about your pet's health and/or behavior, make an appointment with a veterinary clinic Savannah, GA.

Can Cats Be Over-Vaccinated?

The value of immunizations to your cat's general health and longevity cannot be overstated. Cat immunizations have been medically and scientifically proven to prevent the onset and spread of debilitating and lethal feline illnesses.

Vaccination procedures for pets are also changing. The requirements you previously followed may alter when newer vaccinations are created. An example of adjustments made is administering certain immunizations every two to three years rather than annually.

While immunizations may not provide 100% protection against some illnesses, they reduce the likelihood of animals contracting a severe condition. Some vaccinations only give temporary protection and may require booster doses to maintain the required protection.

However, some can give protection for longer than one year or perhaps a lifetime. For decades, yearly vaccine administration has been practiced. Recent research has shown that some vaccinations whose protection could last longer than veterinarians may administer one year every two years or so.

If you have questions and/or concerns about vaccines and vaccination don’t hesitate to visit your veterinary clinic Savannah, GA

Dog Training Tips

It is only natural to find more obedient dogs than other breeds. Owners often look at this personality because they want to adopt an easily trainable dog. Researching before purchasing or adopting a dog will be best if you are among these people.

Adding a dog as another member of the family comes with significant responsibilities. Training is essential in every stage of a dog’s life. Trying out some training strategies and techniques from other dog owners is a good idea. This part is a trial-and-error method until you find what works best for your dog.

The ability of your dog to acquire a skill depends on many factors. Two significant factors are your dog’s personality and breed. Your ability to train is also an essential factor. If training is not your expertise, you can always hire a professional to train your dog.

Your pet will benefit from regular health and wellness checks at your veterinary clinic Savannah, GA.

Hair Coat Of English Setters

English Setters have a flat coat, with hairs longer on their chests, bellies, thighs, legs, ears, and tails. Despite looking lovely, the featherings do not hinder the English Setter in field activities.

English Setters may come in orange/lemon Belton, blue Belton, liver Belton, and blue Belton with tans. Belton was the place where these hunting dogs worked the most— this is also where Edward Laverack, the founder of this breed, lived. Although their coats are mostly white, they also have darker hairs scattered throughout their bodies.

Therefore, all colors of English Setters are tri-color— with blue Belton having black marks, liver Belton with reddish brown marks, and the others having tan marks. Usually, English Setters are white during puppyhood, although you may see a subtle presence of black, liver, or orange in other puppies.

To maintain healthy skin and shiny coat, English Setters need daily (or three times every week) brushing— stiff bristle brushes and steel combs are the ones recommended.

Any skin and/or hair coat issue exhibited by your pet should warrant an appointment with your pet clinic Savannah, GA

Common Items That Are Poisonous To Cats

Cats are very curious creatures; they tend to stick their noses where they don’t belong. There is a very long list of substances that are potentially dangerous for your cat. Here are the most common ones that you may not be aware of”

Caffeine

Ingesting moderate quantities of tea bags, coffee grounds, diet pills that contain caffeine, etc. can cause abnormal heartbeat, seizures, muscular tremors, and death. Take note that the darker the chocolate, the more toxic it is to cats.

Dairy

Most adult cats are lactose-intolerant, thus consumption of milk and dairy products can cause digestive upsets. Casein in milk also interferes in the absorption of nutrients in the digestive tract.

Medications

Cats are extremely sensitive creatures, and some drugs that are safe for use in other animals are toxic for cats. These medications include antihistamines, NSAIDs, decongestants, to name a few.

If your pet has consumed any item that’s potentially toxic, call your animal hospital Savannah, GA immediately even if your pet is not showing symptoms of toxicity.
