Brushing Your Cat

pet clinic Cherry Hill NJ

Cats are pretty good at cleaning themselves. In fact, they can spend as much as a third of their waking time grooming their fur. You don’t have to bathe your kitty, though you can if you want. That doesn't mean that your feline pal can't use some help, however.

Brushing your cat is beneficial for a few reasons. First and foremost, it will remove dead fur from her coat. This will help keep her more comfortable. It also increases the efficiency of the insulating properties of her fur. It's also good for her circulation. Finally, it's just a good way for you to spend time with your pet.

The main thing is to choose a time when your cat is feeling relaxed and affectionate. Brush in the direction of her fur. Many cats enjoy these beauty sessions. It's nice to get pampered!

Your pet clinic Cherry Hill, NJ can give you more information about grooming your cat.

Ozone Therapy For Dogs And Cats

Ozone therapy has been used in human healthcare for over a century. But it’s only recently introduced to the veterinary world. It is an effective and safe therapeutic technique that is used to treat a wide range of health issues in dogs and cats. The benefits of ozone therapy in pets include:

Treatment of infections caused by bacteria, viruses, yeast, and fungi.
Decreases inflammation.
Stimulated cytokine production which can stimulate and boost the immune system integrity and function.

Ozone therapy is contraindicated or used with caution in the following conditions-- pregnancy, hyperthyroidism, thrombocytopenia, a recent history of internal bleeding, and severe spasms or cramping.

Unfortunately, many veterinarians have not started offering ozone therapy, and also, it is not yet approved by the FDA for use in medical purposes.

Exercises for Your Pet Bird

Did you know that even your pet bird needs exercise? If your bird is hyper, being rowdy in his cage, squawking for attention, etc. then he may need some quality time with you exercising. That’s right. Birds need to exercise and move about. This can help burn off physical and mental energy. If your bird is droopy or seems depressed, exercise can also help him to be happy as it serves as mental and physical stimulation. Here ways to help your bird exercise. First, wing flapping is a very common form of exercise. Encourage your bird to flap his wings at least five minutes a couple of times a day. You can help encourage him by holding him on your finger or arm and slightly and slowly raising him up and down. The motion will encourage him to flap his wings. For more exercise tips, call your Veterinary Clinic Cherry Hill NJ.

Dangers Of Second-Hand Smoke For Pets

Second-hand smoke refers to smoke that smokers’ exhales into the air which can then be inhaled by everyone around, including pets. On the other hand, third-hand smoke is the residue that sticks to fur, skin, clothing, etc. The smoke residues remain long after the air has been cleared of smoke. Both secondhand and third-hand smoke are referred to as environmental tobacco smoke (ETS).

Studies have shown that there is an increased risk of developing malignant lymphoma in cats that are exposed to ETS. The risk was 2.5 times higher in cats living in households with ETS exposure compared to cats living in smoke-free households. The risk relatively increases with the length of exposure to ETS. There is also strong evidence that suggests a strong link between the occurrence of oral cancers in cats and exposure to third-hand smoke. Cats can get smoke residue that have attached to their skin which damages their oral tissues eventually leading to oral cancer.

Sudden changes in your pet’s health and/or behavior should warrant an appointment with your veterinary clinic Cherry Hill, NJ
