Tips For Safely Wearing Mascara

eye clinic Los Angeles, CA

Do you wear mascara? That little black wand can have a pretty dramatic effect on your appearance! However, given that there are chemicals in mascara, and that the product is so close to your eye, it's important to follow some guidelines.

Here are some tips:

Toss Expired Products: Mascaras do not last forever. As a general rule of thumb, you should discard it after about 6 months.

Moisturize Your Lashes: Using a bit of olive oil or any eye cream will help keep your lashes hydrated and healthy. Just don't get these products directly in your eye!

Reuse The Wand: While you don't want to keep mascara around past the expiration date, you can use the wand. Clean it, disinfect it, and you've got a great tool for eyebrows or even crafts!

Remove It: Sleeping in mascara is a huge no-no. As it dries out, it will basically dry into your lashes, which can cause them to break off. Always remove mascara before going to bed.

Remember to visit your eye clinic Los Angeles, CA regularly to keep your eyes healthy!

Keeping Your Pet Dog Safe In The Summer Months

Summer months mean the sun is out, the temperature rises, and people spend their days outdoors doing various activities. You might be tempted to take your pet with you in outdoor activities, but do note that the hot summer sun can be a danger to your pet. Before heading outside, ensure that your pet is kept safe, happy, and cool with the suggestions below.

Make sure to bring water, a lot of it

  • Hydration is essential. Dogs tend to lose water much faster than people, therefore, it is essential that fresh clean drinking water is made available. Try using deeper dishes so that the drinking water is kept for longer periods. You may also want to put in ice cubes so that a cooling effect is added or offer your pet a sweet and cool doggie treat as a surprise.

Consider exercise smartly

  • Should your pet require physical activity, the ideal rule to go by is to have these activities late during the evening or early mornings as the first thing you do. This ensures temperatures are low and there is no direct sunlight. It will be ideal to modify and adjust how intense the exercises are and/or how long they are considering the humidity and temperature levels. Always remember to have drinking water with you so that the likelihood of dehydration is minimized.

Make sure your pet’s preventatives and vaccinations are up to date before taking your pet on outdoor excursions. Ask your veterinarians Louisville, KY about them.

Can Adult Cats Become Bonded Pairs ?

Sociable older cats that get placed in one home could become quite close with each other.  It does take longer for an adult cat to form bonds if it forms at all.  Generally speaking, she will have to figure out the hierarchy, sort through emotional baggage, and draw some boundaries.  Cats are individualistic as they have personalities that might not mesh nicely with others.  But it does happen sometimes.  For instance, a shy cat will typically become attached to submissive yet confident cats but might become quite overwhelmed by dominant and confident ones.

And then there are the unexpected instances. Interesting bonds can be formed in animal shelters as well.  Two quite independent cats will suddenly form a pair and get attached to each other after being brought to a shelter even if they come from totally different backgrounds.

A distinctive progression of their bonding can usually be observed.  One of the cats will follow the other around, even pretending to get bothered because of the constant intrusion.  Gradually, that other cat will give in and accept the follower, like a choreographed dance.  The takeaway here is that after the bond gets formed, it becomes as tight as other bonds, requiring the cats to be taken in together.

Keeping Your Dog’s Claws Well-Trimmed

Dogs spending most of their time inside the house should get regular nail clipping sessions to prevent the nails from becoming excessively long, curled, and uncomfortable. Long claws will also result in "quick", a nail portion that contains nerves and blood vessels. When cutting your dog's nails, accidentally striking the quick can cause bleeding and pain. The majority of dogs dislike getting their claws clipped. It is best to start trimming your dog's feet while young to accustom it to the procedure. Some dogs will willingly sit while you cut their nails. However, you may need to tie up dogs that will resist. You may have observed that a claw is growing further up, which is known as a "declaw." It resembles the thumb located on both legs. When dewclaws are malformed or interfere with the dog's everyday activity, a veterinarian might surgically remove them. Long dewclaws may readily become entangled and inflict severe injuries. Dewclaws that are still attached should be part of your dog's regular nail-cutting regimen.

Any skin and/or hair coat issue exhibited by your pet should warrant an appointment with your animal hospital Portland OR.

Why You Should Get Annual Vaccines For Your Pet

Vets recommend vaccines for pets to protect them from diseases. The level of protection will depend on the kind of vaccine administered. When the immunity period has waned, the vet will recommend booster shots.

Core vaccines like rabies or feline virus protect for three years. A booster shot is needed after three years. In the meantime, there are non-core vaccines that offer protection for Chlamydia, Bordetella, or feline infectious peritonitis. This type of vaccine gives protection for a year. If you want to get booster shots for non-core vaccines, the vet will assess the cat’s condition, health, and other risks.

If your cat is living outdoors, there is a greater chance that the vet will recommend non-core vaccine booster shots. The reason is that the cat has more exposure to diseases.

It is important to have regular check-ups for cats. The vet will be able to determine if there is a need to get booster shots.

Your veterinarian Lakewood Ranch FL is a valuable source of information If you have any questions and/or concerns about vaccinations and vaccines.

Are You Co-Sleeping With Your Pet Dog?

There are various opinions on whether the dog should co-sleep with its owner. Some owners think that the dog should sleep in his bed or crate but be in the same room.

On the other hand, some dog owners feel that it is acceptable for the pet dog to share the bed. Doing so has some advantages.

When the owner and dog co-sleep, they form a stronger bond. The two can also spend more time, especially if the owner is away most of the time.

The dog will also feel safe and secure when he is with his human. The dog can also relax when he is in the presence of his owner.

The owner can get warmth from their dog. It would be nice to be a bed companion especially when it is cold.

Co-sleeping should be a fun experience for both. If you have any questions or concerns about your pet’s behavior, don’t hesitate to contact your animal hospital Kerrville TX.

Dogs Look Up To An Alpha Leader

Dogs are social creatures. And they like to feel that they are part of a pack. They want to take part in the mission, character, and territory of the pack. Pet owners should respect the dog’s need to belong in a pack.

When the dog does not see a pack leader, he will feel scared and anxious. If there is no dominant pack leader, the dog will try to take over the role and be aggressive. They can even fight with other dogs just to get the lead role. If a dominant dog assumes the leadership role, he will be nervous and restless as he takes care of the group.

The pet owner should take over the pack leadership role. You will instill solidarity among the dogs. You will look after the welfare of the dogs, and find ways to protect them. You are also expected to participate in the pack’s activities.

The dog becomes confident when he sees a pack leader. Show a lively interaction between dogs and humans. Take the pack out for a regular walk.
