Eye Scratch in Cats

Does your cat love to climb, prowl, hunt, and spend time outdoors? Most cats do and cats that don’t tend to do the same indoors. Either way, cats can get themselves into pretty tight situations whether inside or outside. A scratch to the eye can be very common. Typically, a cat may blink her eye excessively if there is a scratch. The eye may also tear up or become extremely watery. In some cases, the white of the eye will be appear to be red or irritated. If possible, check your cat’s eye for any debris or foreign objects. If you don’t see anything then it could be that the eye is scratched. You may be able to see the scratch with your own naked eye; however, a professional will need to take a closer look. Try and cover the eye with a cloth to prevent your cat from scratching her eye. Contact your veterinarian Webster, NY immediately.
