Tips To Keep Pet Rats Safe Outside Their Cages

Rats enjoy chewing. Keep this in mind when you let your pet rat out of its enclosure from time to time. You could let your pet go outside its cage to help stimulate both mentally and physically. But you need to ensure that the room is rat-proof to prevent untoward incidents.

As soon as you let your pet rat out, it will run around the room. During this time, the rat will investigate various things using the nose and teeth. Expect that your pet will chew on anything that it finds fascinating.

If there are any valuable objects in the room, you should put these out of the way. Put away any dangerous pieces. If there is a loose carpet, secure it. A better option would be to let your pet out on a hard floor.

You could also secure the electrical cables by putting plastic casing. This casing will ensure that the rat will not bite on the electrical wires. You could put toys in the room so that your pet will use this instead of exploring various things at home.

If you have any questions or concerns about your pet’s behavior,  don’t hesitate to contact your vets Collingswood NJ.
