Tear Duct Blockage in Dogs

Dogs can have eye injuries or even eye irritations for a number of reasons. Some dogs just get dirt in their eye from being outside or from having the windows open while they’re indoors. These dogs may not have an injury, but the debris in the eye can be just as painful. Debris in the eye can also lead to a blocked tear duct, which can lead to dry eyes and swelling. Dogs that can’t get rid of the dry eye or blockage from the tear duct may have a blockage in the tear duct itself. The medical term for this is Epiphora. This is what’s used to describe tear ducts not draining correctly, but instead sending it out rather than sending him to another gage may not have actually worked.
