Your puppy will start teething when he is between three and nine
months old as he loses his baby teeth and his adult teeth emerge. He may
be tempted to chew on inappropriate things during teething. Prevent him
from chewing inappropriately so it doesn’t become an ongoing behavioral
issue. Store your shoes, clothes and other belongings in their proper
place so they are out of your puppy’s reach. Chew toys and appropriate
treats can distract your puppy from chewing your belongings. Block off
your puppy’s access to areas where there is risk to furniture or other
household items. When you catch your puppy chewing something
inappropriate, pick him up, give him a stern “NO” and redirect him to an
appropriate chew toy. Ensure that your puppy gets plenty of exercise
and activity to prevent him from chewing things out of boredom. Learn
