Why Cats Commit Potty Problems

Cats would defecate just about anywhere if they have issues with their litter box. One of the main issues that cat owners have to deal with is potty problems. To get to the root of the problem, it’s a good idea for cat parents to take a closer look into their kitty’s litter box and finally address why their kitties are having frequent potty accidents. There are a number of reasons why cats would avoid their litter box. One of which is that the number of litter boxes may be inadequate for the number of cats in the household. The living space may be inadequate for the cats. Another factor could be that a dominant cat is preventing a submissive cat from using the litter box. A cat is experiencing a stressful situation that could also make them avoid their litter box. Other reasons include: (1) spray marking in intact males and females, (2) a covered litter box which unintentionally locks out the cat, (3) indoor-only cats can see or smell cats outdoors, and (4) a female cat in heat can attract male cats with the pheromones in her urine.

A sudden change in your pet’s potty habits should be brought to the attention of your animal hospital Lakewood Ranch FL
