Eating carrots contributes to optimal eye health. Carrots have high vitamin A content, which is necessary for excellent vision. However, vitamin A is present not only in carrots. It is also present in dairy products, egg yolk, and the liver. So, eating extra carrots alone will not assist in vision improvement.

Sitting very close in front of the television might harm your vision. Sitting too near the television may cause a headache and not damage one's vision is a myth. Children, especially those who are nearsighted, may sit too closely in front of the tv to have a better view and, as such, may require wearing spectacles. 

It is not true that reading while in a dark room can damage eyesight. Some people believe it will cause eyestrain or headaches but not weaken the eyes.
