Reasons Dogs Bark

One natural characteristic of canines is barking. Barking is a dog’s foremost way of telling others what he wants. It is a form of communication between dogs, other animals, and even people. However, some dogs seem to display excessive barking behaviors which may annoy and otherwise frustrate their owners, or the people next door.

If this happens, it is best to identify what is causing this unwanted behavior so that it can be fixed. Here are some triggers that can incite excessive barking:

●Your pet may be a perpetual attention-seeker. Barking is often a sure way of getting your attention, as he may have learned.

●Anxiety, stress, and nervousness can cause your dog to bark louder and for long periods. Try to familiarize yourself with your pet’s body language, as this can tell you what he feels. For example, when anxious, a dog will tuck his tail between his legs and will hold his ears flat against his head.

●Excessive barking can sometimes be a symptom of an underlying sickness that has no other visual cue. Thus, visiting your vet clinic Wake Forest NC is a must.
