Tips for Insulin Injections in Cats Like the Japanese Bobtail

Did you know that insulin injections are one of the most popular forms of treatment available for cats with feline diabetes? Talk to your vet about the right way to administer insulin to your diabetic feline friend. Insulin injections may or may not be the recommendation for your cat. There are other medications available in pill form, but these are mostly for less advanced stages of diabetes. If you will be giving your bobtail insulin injections there are a few tips to remember to help with the process. First, do not reuse syringes. Never administer if there is an air bubble in the syringe. If you inject your bobtail on the right side one day then you should inject the left side the next day. If your cat does not cooperate, talk to your vet about making adjustments to the way you administer the injections. Always reward your cat with a treat afterwards.
