Will Affenhuahuas Get Along Well With Children And Other Pets?

Because of their small size, the Affenhuahua (cross between Affenpinscher and Chihuahua) can get injured by rambunctious children easily. For this reason, these dogs mostly prefer the company of older kids and adults who are more gentle when playing with them. Affenhuahuas can be a perfect companion for children, though, if they learn the proper way of approaching these dogs at an early age.

On the other hand, in the matter of other animals, Affenhuahuas can get along with them just fine, given a gradual and calm introduction. Early socialization may also help. Although it's ideal that an Affenhuahua learns to socialize early, it's never too late for older Affenhuahuas to get less territorial. Cats and dogs, in particular, can be friends with Affenhuahuas. But generally, this breed likes to be the only pet and isn't really into other pets. Overall, it depends on socialization, training, and luck.

If your cat has bad breath then it could be related to a health condition and should be checked out by your vet. In fact, bad breath is a health condition referred to as halitosis. You should give your vet a call and schedule a routine wellness exam. In many cases, your Siamese cat’s bad breath could be caused by a build-up of bacteria in the mouth. The bacteria can be the result of plaque and tartar build-up or it could be due to dental or gum disease. In less frequent instances, bad breath could signal a more serious issue going on in the mouth, respiratory system, gastrointestinal tract, liver or even the kidneys. Symptoms may include extensive brown tartar, drooling, lack of appetite, yellow corneas or gums, and pawing at the mouth. In any case, call your vet clinic Cornelius, NC to set up a dental exam.

Cats and Milk

It has been thought by some that cats and milk go together like horses and hay, but that’s no always the case. Contrary to popular belief, cats should not drink milk all that much if at all. Why? As kittens, cats have the digestive enzymes needed to process dairy especially milk. As the kittens grow older and mature into adult cats they start to lose this digestive enzyme making it hard to digest milk. Cats cannot digest milk all that well because they are lactose intolerant. In fact, the lactose in milk will begin to ferment in a cat’s stomach causing diarrhea or in worse cases vomiting. Symptoms of lactose intolerance usually occur within 8 to 12 hours. If your cat has had milk or other dairy and is starting to show similar symptoms, animal hospital Cornelius NC a call for treatment assistance.
