Cats and Fatty Liver Disease

If so, have you taken your cat in for a first time or routine visit with your vet? It’s important to establish a medical record and relationship with your vet. Your cat may not be ill now, but if he gets ill in the future you’ll want a vet to call. One of the illnesses that some cats may face is fatty liver disease. This is also known as Hepatic Lipidosis. This disease is common in cats no matter the age, breed or sex. The disease can be caused by underlying conditions or it can be genetic or run in your cat’s history. What is it? Fatty Liver Disease happens when large amounts of fat are deposited into the liver. It’s too much for the liver to handle so the liver starts shutting down causing your cat to lose weight and become ill. Call your vets Marietta, GA right away if your cat has any strange symptoms or behaviors.
