Separation Anxiety In Dogs

Home alone dogs are prone to developing separation anxiety. They become anxious and nervous as they notice their owners engaging in pre-departure ritual. When they find themselves alone, they will start to display undesirable habits and behaviors like excessive barking, destructive behavior, pooping and urination inside the home, etc. They may also destroy the door or window in an effort to go out and escape. Separation anxiety is an important behavioral issue that needs to be addressed promptly before undesirable behaviors can become deeply ingrained. There are measures that can be taken to desensitize your pet and make him more comfortable being alone and busy. You may also hire a pet sitter to keep your dog company or a neighbor to drop by once n a while to keep an eye on y our pet. Or you could consider leaving your dog at a day-care dog facility. But be sure to ask your vet McHenry, IL if your dog’s vaccinations are up-to-date before leaving your pet at the facility.
