Diet Control In Cats

Studies show that cats live better lifestyles when they are under controlled diets. Our tamed cats have a more relaxed environment and sedentary lifestyle when compared to their counterparts in the wild that hunt for their own food. Being cared for by humans has immensely changed cats’ lifestyle; this has increased the potential of them gaining extra pounds and getting obese.

Cats can consume as much or as little food as they want but most of them do the former when being offered delicious treats or meals. And this excess caloric intake will eventually make them become on the heavier side of the scale.

Cats in general do not need as much energy as their ancestors and it’s because they do not need to hunt for their own food as it is given to them every day. Also, cats that are neutered or spayed will not need much energy as they have a lesser urge to search for mates.

If you have concerns about your pet’s diet or eating habits, ask your veterinarian Peterborough, ON.
