Obesity In Pet Rabbits

Rabbits are prone to obesity. This is one of the most common health issues they can develop when they are always cooped up inside an enclosure. Plus, the consumption of additional calories without proper exercise increases their risk of being obese. Also, rewarding them with sugary treats should be limited since these treats contain excess calories. Pet owners must ensure that they give a healthy and balanced diet to their pets to prevent them from piling on the pounds and suffering from obesity-related issues.

Rabbits need to spend time outside their cages regularly. This can give them an opportunity to play, hop around, and explore. This is essential for them because it can stimulate them physically and mentally. However, make sure that the room must also be rabbit-proof before you let your pet bunny out of the cage to avoid accidents.

If you have an overweight or obese rabbit, talk to your vet Aurora, CO before making any changes to your pet’s diet or starting the rabbit on a weight-loss regimen.
