Infections: Another Cause Of Paw Chewing In Dogs

Infections are common to both humans and animals and this might be another reason for your dog’s nonstop chewing or biting on his legs or/ and paw. Infections can be the second reason for allergies or injury to your dog’s paw chewing or biting.

Infections can occur in either one or all paws and usually have these signs:

  ● Inflamed or red paw, hairless, and swollen.

  ● Nails turning dark brown near the base area.

  ● Pus appears on the nailbed.

In case it is an infection, a combination of anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial medications is needed. It is still better to visit your vet to determine what kind of infection it is, how it started, and if it is the reason for your dog’s constant paw chewing or biting.

If your pet is showing any signs of paw problems, make an appointment with your animal hospital Derby .
