Alcohol Is Toxic To Pets

Have you ever wondered if alcohol is toxic to pet cats and dogs? Yes, any drink that contains alcohol can potentially cause adverse reactions in pets that sometimes can be life-threatening. Thus, during parties and other occasions when alcoholic beverages are flowing, make sure your dogs and cats have no access to these products. Ethanol is a main ingredient of alcohol. It’s extremely toxic to pets. Consumption can have very serious side effects. Just like in humans, alcohol exerts effects on the animal’s brain and liver. Damage can occur even at a much smaller dose than that of humans. For example, 2-3 teaspoons of an alcoholic beverage that contains a high concentration of alcohol can increase a small dog’s or cat’s pet’s risk to coma, or even death.

If your pet has consumed any type of alcoholic beverage, bring him to the animal hospital San Antonio, TX ASAP.
