Find Out If A Corn Snake Is Best For You

What Do Corn Snakes Eat & How to Care for Them | PetMD

Corn snakes (Pantherophis guttata) are becoming a popular choice of pet reptiles. They have a mild temperament, making them a good choice for first-time owners. Corn snakes can live up to 23 years in captivity, especially if given proper care and nutrition.

A 15-gallon tank can accommodate a 2-foot long snake. The enclosure for the snake should be made of sturdy material and with an escape-proof lid. There should be a gradient temperature inside the cage, meaning one side is the basking area and the opposite is the cooler area. The basking area, or the warmer spot, should have an 85-90 degrees temperature. The cooler end should have a temperature of 75 degrees. The gradient temperature is essential for a reptile’s thermoregulation. Maintain these recommend temperatures to ensure the corn snake’s survival.

If you notice any changes in your pet's health, bring it to the animal hospital Scottsdale AZ for a check-up.
