Proper Dental Hygiene For Cats

 Cat Grooming Tips | ASPCA

A number of methods are available to ensure your cat’s dental health.  All of these methods require commitment and diligence from you, the owner.  Your cat will not be able to tell you directly if she requires dental care, therefore, you have to be proactive in tending to her needs.

Better nutrition will result in better dental health.

If possible, try to establish an oral hygiene regimen early on while your kitten is still young.   Brushing your cat’s teeth is still the best home oral care method, however, there are various other dental care items that are available if tooth brushing is not a good fit for your lifestyle.

Schedule twice a year checkups for your cat, or at your vet’s recommendation.

Be on the lookout for possible signs of dental problems like bad breath for example.

During your cat’s checkup, let your vet know about any such behaviors that you have observed or any concerns that you may have, like perhaps chewing on unusual objects, constant pawing at her mouth, anorexia, and other similar symptoms.

Any sign of tooth and/or gum problem should prompt a visit to your veterinarians Smyrna GA.
